After a long stretch of “2026” estimates, Permafrost finally has a firm date: the frozen-Earth survival game from SpaceRocket Games and Toplitz Productions enters PC Early Access on August 21, 2026, launching simultaneously on Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store.

What was announced

The date was revealed through a dedicated release-date trailer and confirmed on the game’s storefronts. It turns the previously vague launch window into a specific day, giving survival fans something concrete to plan around.

Crucially, this is an Early Access launch, not a 1.0 release. Permafrost will arrive playable and substantial but still in active development, with the developer planning to expand biomes, quests and mechanics over time.

What it means

For a game that has been building anticipation through trailers since its reveal, a confirmed date is a milestone. It signals the core experience, surviving the cold, scavenging, crafting, building shelter networks and exploring with your dog companion alone or in co-op, is ready for players to get their hands on.

The studio has indicated Early Access will run for at least 12 months and that the price will rise as content is added, so the launch is likely to be the most affordable entry point.
