Weapons
For the threats the cold sends
Permafrost's weapons, from bows to firearms, are tools for hunting and for the predators and survivors that hunt you. An overview of how combat gear fits a survival-first world.
Weapons in Permafrost serve a survival-first world. Official footage shows everything from bows to firearms, used both to hunt and to deal with the predators and survivors that hunt you. This overview is expected based on trailers until launch.
Tools, not power fantasies
In a game built around the cold, weapons are practical tools rather than a route to dominance. A bow is quiet and well suited to hunting deer in the forests. Firearms hit harder against serious threats but draw attention. The right choice depends on whether you want to stay unseen or stop something fast.
The cost of fighting
Ammunition and durability are finite, so every fight has a cost. A loud confrontation can attract more danger than it resolves, which is why avoidance is often the smarter play. Your dog’s early warnings frequently let you sidestep a fight you would rather not pay for.
Survivor’s read
Carry a weapon for the threats the world sends, but treat combat as a last resort. The survivors who last spend more on staying warm and unseen than on ammunition.
